Thermopylae
Each must journey to Thermopylae;
Leonidas, you, and I, linked through the Circle of time;
Xerxes, with his overwhelming might is always coming;
everyone is frightened, few will help;
disagreement and deception are the veils that prevent their support;
alone and devalued the fabric begins to unravel.
Leonidas with three hundred would stand to face two hundred thousand;
he would fight, victory would be his;
all judged the brave but futile attempt to be hopeless;
off then marched a thousand strong;
Xerxes would be met at a narrow pass between the mountains;
stopped, and defeated at Thermopylae
The path around the pass revealed;
seven hundred sent home to tell the tale;
three hundred would remain;
we too, can prevail when Leonidas is our guide;
all must construct form, force, and power to overcome;
when the other moves behind to run, fight, or die;
each a strategic thought for victory;
his the message of Thermopylae.
